GAMES ON FILM #29

Every so often, I come across games in the most random and unexpected films. Then again, finding and documenting such appearances is the core idea of this series. This time we will look at three different eras of Game Boy, covering the 1989 original, 1998 Game Boy...

ABOUT (WHATS GOING ON?)

Hi, I’m Alex kisby. A filmmaker and writer, cartoonist and occasional animator.

I take a lateral thinking approach to new ideas. I believe that concepts are more than surface level and can be mined and explored in unique ways to find their true potential.

I enjoy experimenting with mixed media, such as combining live-action and animation.

I have an MA in filmmaking and a BA in animation. I have a long-standing appreciation of film in all its forms as an art form, a way of self-expression and it’s storied history

My graduation comedy short film, “Waitology”, has been screened at several film festivals globally and has received nominations and accolades.

Outside of film, I take experimental photography with a Gameboy camera. I like the challenge it offers,  pushing hardware to its limits and using the GB camera in ways it wasn’t really intended.

I also write and draw a series of comic scripts, including “Office Duck.”  Side projects such as these allow me to explore new creative avenues.
