Waitology: The Science of Waiting

This was my Master’s graduation film.

Waiting has always been a pet peeve of mine, I came up with the initial concept of the film while waiting for food at a local take-out Chinese food restaurant. 

While waiting, I thought about all the things thing people wait for and what they do while waiting: check their phones, pace back and forth, etc.

Before I added the character of the professor and the financial science of Waitology. The film was more of a conventional documentary but still had some stylistic elements. This “prequel” can be seen on the site. Waitology took several of the elements from the “Waiting” short and expanded on them. 

I headed the character of the Professor to enhance the film and take it to another level. The character of the professor was inspired by professor-type characters from 50s sci-fi movies and the character Troy Macurle from The Simpsons.  

I think his is a topic and characters  I would like to explore again in the future.
